If You’ve Sent Me a Recent Query

I might be having issues with my Andrea Brown email address (I can’t be sure, though, since if I’m not getting emails, how do I know about them?!), so if you’ve queried me in December, maybe resend to either my Andrea Brown email or the Kidlit email that’s listed on this blog. Thanks!

Is this just you, Mary, or are the other agents wondering the same thing about their own accounts? Sometimes we send things that get lost in cyberspace, yet we don’t know that since most of the agents at Andrea Brown are non responders (and I don’t blame them). I was torn between querying you or another agent. The other agent won by a margin because I’d seen her present at a SCBWI conference. Now I really wish I had queried you because I would have known for sure. Plus I love your great advice. I’m just going to assume it wasn’t right for the agency. Actually, I’m going to wait the 8 weeks then assume that. :D

Hopefully your possible issue is resumed soon.

Stina — A few other agents have reported experiencing problems, but they mostly found out because editors have been trying to get in touch. And yeah, a lot of them are nonresponders to queries. It’s actually 6 weeks per our guidelines before you assume a “no.” Good luck!

Thanks, Mary. I was counting an extra two weeks for the holidays. And I know other writers who have heard back with a request well beyond the six week mark because the agents have been extremely busy. By then the writers had marked it off as a rejection. You can imagine their surprise. :D

    Have a great Christmas!
