WooHoo!

I’m a little late posting this but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited. I’m so thrilled for my author/illustrator client, Lindsay Ward, and her first author/illustrator project, PELLY AND MR. HARRISON VISIT THE MOON. It’s going to be a really fun story… and gorgeous art, of course! You can visit her website here: Lindsay’s Bake Shop. I can’t wait until 2011. My first projects will be coming out then and it’ll be so fantastic to finally hold a client’s book in my hands and see them in stores!

  3. Congrats! And it’s nice to know agents want to hold that hot-off-the-press book in their hands, too:)

  4. Thanks for the kind words, all! And yes, we do really get excited about the books we represent. We have to be! And we don’t choose to take on projects that we’re any less than head-over-heels-in-love with.

Congratulations! I can only imagine that feeling of accomplishment you have while holding in your hands a client’s book. Must feel great! Maybe even better than finishing a novel, sending it off to lots of agents, and getting offers of representation. Or maybe not. 😀 Anyway, they’re close contenders.

This book sounds interesting! I’ll have to take a look at it …

  6. Congratulations to you both! I love hearing about other author’s successes, especially with picture books. It gives me hope that there is always room for spectacular picture books, regardless of the negativity & cynicism that can abound. Can’t wait to hear more about Pelly & Mr Harrison’s progress.

  7. Kudos! I liked the little screen capture of your listing from Publishers Marketplace — that’s a fun memento you should keep for posterity.

I can’t wait to read PELLY AND MR. HARRISON VISIT THE MOON. It sounds like it would be a great nominee for the Texas 2 X 2 list.

  15. Congrats! What an awesome way to start the New Year. Here’s to many more successful projects this year.

  17. Like others have said, it is exciting to read how excited an agent is about her clients’ books. Good luck to the both of you!

  18. I can’t wait to see this book in stores. I would love to use it with my students. I teach 6th and 7th grade English, but I use picture books to teach poetic language and discuss certain themes related to novels we are reading.

Is there a book signing scheduled in the Southern California area? I would love to come!

  19. Leighann — Check back with me in Spring or Fall 2011, when PELLY is coming out!

As you all can see, from sale to publication takes a LONG time. Sometimes up to two years.
