That was a terrific interview. I didn’t see anywhere to comment on the post, so I’m commenting here! Your passion for books, writers, and being an agent was evident! It’s refreshing to learn more about agents who appreciate their work and those they work with.
Have a wonderful Independence Day and Happy Birthday!!!

I find it ironic that you admit that publishing isn’t perfect, yet somehow indie authors are ridiculed for not being perfect. Are we supposed to be held to higher standards–even though we have less resources?
Last night, I was trying to read a traditionally published book. It was a romance by a fairly well known author in that genre. Let me tell you, the pov switched so often and so fast, I had whiplash.
Indie authors aren’t completely alone. Sure, maybe they used to be, but times are changing. There is strength in numbers and I’m trying to take advantage of that by organizing a multi-author promotion. Instead of having just our own blogs and followers promoting our book, there are 17 of us linked together for a special July promotion. That means at least a thousand more eyeballs. Some of my blog followers who aren’t indie authors have also linked to the promotion on their blogs, so right there, it’s another five hundred. (one of whom bought my book yesterday, so it is working)
This is just one idea and maybe it won’t work, but it only cost me $20. I already consider it a success as far as even if people don’t buy my book this month, they’ve seen it now. Every time they see it, it’ll spark something. Isn’t that what advertising does?
I’m sure other indie authors will come up with other ideas and I can’t wait to see what they are.
