Happy Release: ZOE GETS READY and Bethanie Murguia!

How completely inappropriate…I am late in announcing the release day for the amazing picture book ZOE GETS READY by Bethanie Deeney Murguia, out on May 1st from Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic. It’s the story of a girl with big hopes for a day when she gets to choose her own outfit. But how can she make up her mind with so many possibilities in her closet? And just what kind of day will it be?

I’m going to bring you another super cool picture of the team behind ZOE this week, but for now, get on over to your local independent bookstore and pick up your copy! If you are an online shopper, find it on Amazon or Indiebound. You can check out Bethanie’s website here. And don’t worry about falling in love with this spunky heroine and being left hanging…Scholastic will publish a follow-up ZOE book next year!

    Twirling and exploring. I wish someone would invent clothing for my daughter that was useful for these activities, because she loves both! And it looks like this book will soon become one of her favourites. I’m hoping there’s a lesson in there that a four-year-old really mustn’t taken an hour to get dressed when her mum is waiting to take her to school?!?! That would be nice, you know, for me.

    Oh my goodness, I need to buy this for my toddler! Ooo, and I have a friend’s baby shower coming up, and I want to get something for the 3-year-old big-sister-to-be as well. Excellent timing :)

    Thanks, Mary! Franziska, your daughter sounds very much like mine. I’m not sure the book offers any lessons about getting ready more quickly, but perhaps you can find a little solace in the fact that she is not the only child who takes her time getting dressed. :)

    That’s one heckuva book trailer! I want to know who did the voiceover. She was a brilliant choice – brought a lot of charm to the trailer. :)

    Sounds absolutely delightful. Rushing to go get it now. Congrats Bethanie! I loved Buglette and I can tell from the trailer I am going to love Zoe as well. I know my girls (4&6) will enjoy it too. I really like your illustration style. :-)
