I’m a little late posting this but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited. I’m so thrilled for my author/illustrator client, Lindsay Ward, and her first author/illustrator project, PELLY AND MR. HARRISON VISIT THE MOON. It’s going to be a really fun story… and gorgeous art, of course! You can visit her website here: Lindsay’s Bake Shop. I can’t wait until 2011. My first projects will be coming out then and it’ll be so fantastic to finally hold a client’s book in my hands and see them in stores!

Congratulations to you both! This sounds like the kind of book my nephews will love.
Congrats! My daughter will love this!
Congratulations! It’s so nice to see agents get excited about a client’s book! This story sounds like a ton of fun.
Congratulations to both of you. It’s an unbeatable feeling when the seeds you planted and nurtured come to fruition. Enjoy!
Congrats! And it’s nice to know agents want to hold that hot-off-the-press book in their hands, too:)
Thanks for the kind words, all! And yes, we do really get excited about the books we represent. We have to be! And we don’t choose to take on projects that we’re any less than head-over-heels-in-love with.
Congratulations! I can only imagine that feeling of accomplishment you have while holding in your hands a client’s book. Must feel great! Maybe even better than finishing a novel, sending it off to lots of agents, and getting offers of representation. Or maybe not. 😀 Anyway, they’re close contenders.
This book sounds interesting! I’ll have to take a look at it …
Congratulations to you both! I love hearing about other author’s successes, especially with picture books. It gives me hope that there is always room for spectacular picture books, regardless of the negativity & cynicism that can abound. Can’t wait to hear more about Pelly & Mr Harrison’s progress.
Congratulations! Also, Lindsay’s website is adorable.
Kudos! I liked the little screen capture of your listing from Publishers Marketplace — that’s a fun memento you should keep for posterity.
Congrats to you and your client! She has some adorable illustrations on her website and I can’t wait to snag this book up for my kids.
Congratulations! How exciting!
Congratulations! What a way to start the new year.
Congratulations to you both! Her website is adorable. The story sounds like it’s full of whimsy. I love whimsy!
That sounds like a great picture book, and I enjoyed looking around her website. You’ve got to love an artist who always has room for dessert. Congratulations!
Congratulations! I’m looking forward to this book.
Hooray! Congratulations to you both!
First congratulations to Lindsay (the cover of the book looks beautiful) and to you and second (darn I’m jealous!!!:)
Wow. I checked out her Bake Shop site and my oh my, the illustrations are magically delicious!
I can’t wait to read PELLY AND MR. HARRISON VISIT THE MOON. It sounds like it would be a great nominee for the Texas 2 X 2 list.
Congrats! What an awesome way to start the New Year. Here’s to many more successful projects this year.
Congratulations to you, Mary, and to Lindsay too!
Congratulations Mary and Lindsay.
It’s nice to see your enthusiasm. Congrats and enjoy!
Like others have said, it is exciting to read how excited an agent is about her clients’ books. Good luck to the both of you!
Congratulations you two!!
I can’t wait to see this book in stores. I would love to use it with my students. I teach 6th and 7th grade English, but I use picture books to teach poetic language and discuss certain themes related to novels we are reading.
Is there a book signing scheduled in the Southern California area? I would love to come!
Leighann — Check back with me in Spring or Fall 2011, when PELLY is coming out!
As you all can see, from sale to publication takes a LONG time. Sometimes up to two years.
